School of Health Systems Management

The School of Healthcare Systems Management was established in order to promote the Israeli healthcare system forward. The healthcare system in Israel is one of the most advanced in the Western world and has notable achievements, however, it faces many challenges. The need to ensure efficient and affordable health services to the public in recent years has resulted in changes and crises in the health system, stemming from Israeli and international budgetary and economic conditions. To meet these challenges, as well as the significant changes and developments that have affected the field in recent years in Israel and around the world, there is a growing need for highly trained and knowledgeable managers that will help advance a variety of positions in public and private clinics, hospitals, health maintenance organizations (HMO), and other health organizations.

Medical institutions and health organizations in Israel today are seeking professionals in all the health-related fields who have academic training in the management of healthcare systems and public health.

Improving the knowledge and skills of employees in the field in the variety of topics that are dealt with by managers in public and private health services raises the need for more relevant academic programs. The school focuses on imparting knowledge in the field of health services organization and management that includes hospitals, districts, clinics, units, and institutes. Geriatric systems management, the foundations of the economy, health economics, health policies, epidemiology, ethical and legal aspects, health promotion issues, and preventive medicine are all among the issues that concern every advanced and reformed Western society that is looking for the most cost-effective solution in the long run. Effective healthcare management will have a positive effect on the overall health of society and will improve the services provided to citizens.

The Healthcare Systems Management bachelor's degree is meant to train a reserve of managers who can contribute to improving the service, organization, and management of healthcare services in Israel. Healthcare systems studies are intended to meet the needs and requirements of the health system for training professional, managerial and quality personnel through the improvement of knowledge and skills in a variety of subjects.

The goals of the master's degree program in the School of Healthcare Systems Management are to impart knowledge, abilities, and skills in public health, health economics, medical services organization, decision making in medicine, medicinal planning and managing in hospitals and the community, legal and ethical aspects of health, and more.

Graduates Will Be Able to Engage in Problem-Solving Policies, Organization, and Healthcare Systems Management Issues

Graduates of the School of Healthcare Systems Management will be able to integrate into the health system and to fill management positions in various departments and units, clinics and institutes, geriatric institutions, paramedical units, human resources, clinics, and community clinics. Graduates will have acquired an advanced knowledge of theories, skills, techniques, and tools that will enable them to engage in problem-solving policies, organization, and healthcare systems management ranging from a single clinic to a hospital.

The School of Healthcare Systems Management is headed by the President of the College, Prof. Jacob Hart, Dean who specializes in medical administration. Prof. Hart has served as Head of the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine at Tel Aviv University, as Medical Director of the Petah Tikva District, as the Director of HaSharon and Loewenstein Hospitals, as Chairman of the Union of Hospital Managers, and currently as President of the Union of Hospital Managers.
